Indoor Air Pistol Silhouette
HCRPC has the highest attended and most competitive Indoor Air Pistol Silhouette Match in the
country. The HCRPC Indoor Air Pistol Silhouette Match is NRA Approved and IHMSA Sanctioned,
and is very competitive with the best air pistol silhouette shooters in the country competing in almost
every class and match. This match is shot on the short pistol range every Tuesday evening, hot or
cold, rain or shine, or dark of night, every week of the year. The range is set up from 5:30 to 6:00,
and open for formal practice at 6:00. The match starts at 7:00 and lasts until finished. We are usually
out the gate between 8:30 and 9:00.
The shooting and camaraderie are first class and you wont find better knowledge and experience
anywhere in the world in this sport. The competition is championship quality with very high scores
shot in all classes. For the seasoned pistol silhouette shooter, air pistol silhouette will give you more
quality practice time and sharpen your silhouette pistol shooting skills.
And for the beginning shooter, there is no better place to learn from the top pistol silhouette shooters.
Every type and price range of air pistol is represented among our competitors, and they are more
than willing to help you get started competing in this fun sport by letting you try their air pistols. We
almost always have several extra air pistols available if you do not yet own one. If you call me and let
me know you are coming without a pistol, I will have one for you to shoot, with ammo.
So come out between 6:00 and 7:00PM on any Tuesday and enjoy this popular shooting sport. It is a
very relaxing, quiet, inexpensive, and satisfying sport that you can enjoy at any age. Bring your wife
and children too; this sport is for the whole family!

Indoor Air Pistol Silhouette Match Information
This match is shot with most any air pistol, co2, compressed air, single stroke pneumatic, and spring
piston. Both iron sights and scopes are used but scored separately into Scope Class and Iron/Open
Sight Class. And Indoor Air Pistol Silhouette is shot with .177 pellets only.
The targets are 1/10 scale metallic silhouette animals that are remotely resettable.
The course of fire is 40 or 60 shots, but mostly 40 shots at HCRPC. 10 shots at Chickens at 10
yards, 10 shots at Pigs at 12.5 yards, 10 shots at Turkeys at 15 yards, and 10 shots at Rams at 18
yards.
There are two banks of animal targets, an upper and a lower bank. Eight competitors may shoot on
a single relay. The number of relays is determined to accommodate all competitors that want to
shoot.
Each relay takes five shots at five animals with a time limit of 2.5 minutes and a 15 second ready
period before the “Fire” command is given. This is done twice for a total of 10 shots at each animal.
The scores are totaled after the match, and ties for 1st and 2nd place may be decided with a shoot-
off at the turkey line. All other ties, 3rd place and below, may be decided by reverse animal count in
order to save time.
Awards may be given for each class with at least three competitors. One Prize may be awarded for
classes with three competitors, two prizes for four competitors, three prizes for six competitors, and
four prizes for eight or more competitors. Classes with less than three competitors may be moved to
the next higher class.
The awards will not exceed the value of the entry fee.
Entry fees for HCRPC club matches are $6.00 per shooter per gun, and $1.00 for each Junior
shooter per gun. A responsible adult must accompany junior shooters at all times while the match is
in progress.
IHMSA Sanction Fees are collected by the IHMSA representative, and are separate from the
HCRPC entry fee. To qualify for IHMSA sanctioned scores you must be a member of IHMSA and
pay the sanction fee. Membership in IHMSA is voluntary, and is not required to participate in
HCRPC pistol silhouette matches.
NRA rules will be used during this match. IHMSA rules will also be allowed but competitors shooting
under IHMSA rules that are conflicting with NRA rules will be classed separately.

Air Rifle Silhouette:
(Second Saturday afternoon)
If you think you're good with a 'BB' gun, this might be for you. Tiny silhouette targets -- the chicken is
about the size of a nickel -- at 20 to 45 yards. OFFHAND ONLY! Don't worry about equipment. We
always have spares that you can use until you decide if you want to take the plunge. It's a challenging
game; but knocking those itty-bitty critters over is satisfying BIG time! (No September match as the
range is in use for the Texas Airgun Silhouette State Championships that weekend.) Practice begins
immediately following completion of the smallbore rifle competition (usually about noon) and the
match starts about 3:30pm. If you try it once or twice and you decide to play this game you'll need an
NRA scorebook - available from the match director. Entry fee is $6 adult, $1 junior. Club members
competing for the first time shoot for free. Matches are open to the general public, they are not
restricted to club members.
Air Pistol Silhouette:
(Second Saturday afternoon)
The same targets used in Air Rifle (see above) but at 1/2 rifle distances. Just like Rifle, there's
always equipment to borrow until you decide whether you want to play regularly and get your own.
Practice begins immediately after Air Rifle is complete. The match starts at about 5:00pm. NRA
scorebook requirement as in Rifle, same entry fee system. Matches are open to the general public,
they are not restricted to club members.
